Cards fall to Snow on the road

EPHRAIM, Utah — Freshman Ivan Leon scored on an assist from Lake City High product Jacob Molina in the 48th minute for the Cardinals, who fell to the 13th-ranked Badgers in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match. 

NIC (11-5-1, 7-4-1 SWAC, 22 points) is tied for fourth-place in the conference with Utah State-Eastern (8-4-2, 7-4-1, 22 points) with two matches remaining. The top four teams advance to the Region 18 Tournament starting on Oct. 30 at the site of the conference champion. 

"There were a lot of cards and a lot of action in the game," NIC coach Brad Williams said. "We didn't fell that it was controlled really well, but we did our best against all odds to do what we could do." 

NIC travels to Salt Lake on Thursday, then wraps up the regular season at Colorado Northwestern next Saturday in Rangely, Colo.
