SOFTBALL: Cards sweep Yaks in home opener

The North Idaho College softball team hosted the Yaks from Yakima Valley College on Friday, April 1. After a battle in the first game, the Cards overcame the Yaks 13-10 in the seventh inning.

Taryn Vanderwiel went four-for-four with two doubles, one home run, and three RBIs. Addison Ribordy went three-for-four with one home run and four RBIs. Aleksya Batoon went two-for-four with two home runs and three RBIs. Kahlea Dumas hit the go-ahead two RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win for the Cardinals.

Hattie Imbler-Bremner got the win in the circle.

Game two of this matchup was not as close as the Cards swept in and ended the game in the fifth inning with a final score of 10-1.

Taya Escalante went two-for-two with one home run, while Aleksya Batoon went three-for-three with one double, one home run, and three RBIs. Four other players also recorded RBIs: Taryn Vanderwiel, Addison Ribrody (2), Megan Dobrev, and Lexy Orien.

Abbey Brooks got the win in the circle.

The Cardinals travel to Oregon next weekend for the NWAC Crossover (schedule TBD).
