SOFTBALL: Cards have successful weekend on the road

The North Idaho College softball team travelled to Oregon this past weekend to take on the Treasure Valley Chukars in the season opener on Friday, March 18, and the Blue Mountain Community College Timberwolves on Satruday, March 19.

The Cardinals topped the Chukars 8-1 in the first game and 12-6 in the second. On Saturday, the Cards defeated Blue Mountain 13-3 in the first game, and completed the weekend with another win over the Timberwolves with a 27-4 blowout.

Over the weekend, Taryn Vanderwiel went 10-for-16 with five singles, two doubles, one home run and seven RBIs. Kahlea Dumas went 10-for-17 with five singles, two doubles, one triple, two home runs, nine RBIs and two stolen bases. Taya Escalante went 8-for-14 with three singles, four doubles, two walks and one RBI. Addison Ribordy went 8-for-18 with two singles, four doubles, two home runs and one stolen base.

Pitcher Abbey Brooks go two wins with 11 innings pitched and had six strike-outs. Hattie Imbler-Bremner got two wins with 6 innings pitched and had four strike-outs.

The Cardinals travel to Walla Walla on Friday, March 25 to take on the Warriors at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
