Cardinals defeat Lamar on the road

STERLING, Colo. — Judah Straight, a sophomore from Bellingham, Wash., scored one goal and drew a foul which led to a penalty-kick goal as the Cardinals beat the Runnin' Lopes of Lamar, Texas, at Northeastern Junior College. 

"The guys had to battle hard," NIC coach Brad Williams said. "It was really difficult conditions again, but we adapted and got the job done." 

Sophomore Mohammed Fadel Fall scored on the penalty kick in the 38th minute for NIC (2-0-0), which hosts Edmonds Community College at Eisenwinter Field on Thursday at 1 p.m. 

It was the season opener for Lamar.
