Cards go 3-0 in California
The North Idaho College men's basketball team traveled to California to take on Santa Rosa Community College on Thursday, December 1. The Cards came off an 18-hour trip to win 86-79 as they relinquished a 16-point lead late in the second half.
NIC was led by sophomore Julius Mims with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Brendon Johnson contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
On Friday, December 2 the Cardinals faced Delta College. NIC came out victorious with a convincing final score of 85-58.
The Cards recorded 15 dunks in the game lead by Julius Mims with 28 points, 21 rebounds and 5 blocks. The Cards also had four other players reach double figures in scoring.
The last game of the weekend was everything it was built up to be. North Idaho College is considered one of the best teams in the northwest while San Francisco City College is considered one of the best in California. Both of these programs are the only non-NJCAA affiliated schools who routinely are rated in the top 20 in the country by outside publications.
The Cardinals won an exciting game 97-86 in overtime. The game was back and forth until the overtime period when NIC went on a 22-11 run to close out the game. The Cards hit 12/13 free-throws to secure the victory.
North Idaho College men's basketball returns to action on Thursday, December 8 as they host Lilac City Legends at 7:30 p.m.
