MEN'S BASKETBALL: Season Preview
The North Idaho College men's basketball team has several veteran team members returning along with some key newcomers to add to the fold. Returning for the Cards is 6'9" combo-forward Julius Mims (Skyview HS, MT) who led the team in scoring and rebounding in 2021-22 with 16 pts 11.5 rebounds per game. Taden King (Madison HS, ID) a 6'4" shooting guard also returns for the Cardinals. King is considered one of the best shooters in the country, averaging 47% from three-point line on 8.3 attempts a game. Also, key returning contributors are 6'6" shooting forward Xavier Bailey (Lindberg HS, WA) who was heavily relied upon for his defense and versatility last season; 6'5" guard Brendan Johnson (Livingston HS, MT) and 6'0" Riley Sloan (Shadle Park HS, WA) rounding out the returning Cardinals.
The Cardinals are excited about the newly acquired transfers as well. Kyle Karstetter (Moses Lake, WA), a 6'7" wing who transferred in through the NCAA portal from his previous school Idaho State University. The Cardinals also added Phil Holmes (Chicago, IL), a 6'9" forward from an NAIA university in the Midwest. Rounding out the transfers is Charles Erving (Chicago, IL), a 6'2" guard from Saddleback College.
The Cardinals welcome the freshman class led by Cobi Campbell (Elite Prep, Seattle WA), a 6'2" point guard who comes in from a prep school where he played against the Cardinals last season and put up 28 points. Kamryn Thomas (Dream City Prep, Chicago IL) is a 6'7" wing who comes to the Cardinals from a prep school that was ranked #2 in the nation. Kiante Williams (Estacada, TX) 6'9" wing was rated #45 in the country by ESPN coming out of high school. Tayon Sessoms 6'2" (West Seattle HS grad from Denver, CO), Jeremiah Sibley 6'0" (University High, WA), and Tayshawn Colvin 6'0" (Liberty HS, WA) round out the freshman class.
