MEN'S SOCCER: Cards topped by Walla Walla at home


After the dramatic tie  against Spokane, the men's soccer team dropped one to Walla Walla Community College at home on Saturday, October 2 with a final score of 2-1. After creating a few opportunities early, the Cardinals found themselves on the falling behind 2-0 just before the half. 

At the 32-minute mark, Angel Madreno scored off an assist from Kiko Solis. Minutes later, Solis headed home a free kick from Erick Perez. The Cardinals regrouped at the half and put one away at the 58-minute mark. Michael De La Torre’s corner kick found Garrett Grillo inside the six. Grillo flicked the ball to the far post and caught the side netting. In the end, the Warriors went away with the win. The Cardinals put 10 shots on goal to the Warriors’ 3. Brendan Gribek had nine saves on the match. Stuart Heringer had one in a strong performance in limiting the Warriors’ chances and starting a calculated attack. 

The Cardinals are tied for the third playoff spot with Blue Mountain Community College. The Cardinals play at Pendleton, Oregon against Blue Mountain on Wednesday, October 16 in a high stakes match.
