North Idaho College’s men’s soccer player, Jairo Aguirre, has signed to play with Corban University this upcoming fall. The Woodburn, Oregon native is currently a sophomore and a returning starter for the Cards. The Cardinals began NWAC play yesterday, March 31st as they opened with a home game against Columbia Basin College.
As a high school senior, Aguirre was an OSAA 4A champion and tallied 20 goals and 17 assists on the year. As a senior, he was also honored as a 1st Team All-Conference selection. His junior and sophomore year of high school, he was a 5A soccer champion, and was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection and an Honorable Mention for those respective years.
“Jairo plays end to end; he is a tireless competitor and consumes the game,” said NIC Head Men’s Soccer Coach Ken Thompson. “He is fire!”
Aguirre is ambitious both on the field and in the classroom. He is majoring in education at North Idaho College and says he aspires to be an English and Spanish teacher, coach, and writer.
