MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals win thriller


Sophomore Marcus Austin came off the bench to score 10 points in the final two and a half minutes helping North Idaho College to escape with a 79-78 victory over Wenatchee Valley College on Wednesday, Feb. 12 in Wenatchee, Washington. Austin hit his second three-pointer of the game with twenty-nine seconds remaining to give the Cardinals the lead for good and then added two free throws with six seconds remaining to seal the deal. The Knights would hit a three at the buzzer to close the gap to one.

Besides Austin, three other Cards scored in double figures. Sophomore Nate Pryor led all scorers with 19 points while sophomore Christian Guess added 15 points along with nine rebounds. Sophomore James Carlson filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.

NIC, now 24-1 overall and 12-0 in the Northwest Athletic Conference East Region, travel to Pendleton, Oregon Saturday, Feb. 15 for a 4:00 p.m. matchup against Blue Mountain Community College.
