NIC wrestling ranked No. 4 in nation

North Idaho College Wrestling jumped this week to No. 4 in the nation in the National Junior College Athletic Association wrestling team and individual athlete rankings.

This latest NJCAA poll ranks six individual Cardinals wrestlers in the top 10 in the country.

“I think these rankings are great for our student athletes,” said NIC Head Wrestling Coach Mike Sebaaly. “While rankings are never perfect, they do help drive conversations about our student athletes.”

Jacob Swift moved into the No. 1 spot at 157 pounds; Hunter Gregerson is ranked second at 197 pounds; Isaac Lopez is ranked third at 125 pounds; Navarro Nanpuya is ranked third at 165 pounds; Sal Silva is ranked seventh at 149 pounds; and Alex Lopez is ranked 10th at 141 pounds.

“The six who are ranked have worked hard this fall and have big goals for March,” Sebaaly said. “It also helps draw the eyes of four-year schools as these athletes look to continue their academic and athletic careers after their time here.”

The Cardinals wrestling team moved to No. 4 after being ranked 11th in the country when the first NJCAA poll was released on Nov. 5.
