SOFTBALL: Cards win all four against the Knights

North Idaho College's softball team began their series against Wenatchee Valley College on Thursday, April 29 with a 13-10 win. Jadyn Raley-Jones earned the win the in the circle for the Cardinals. Kasey Davis led the Cardinal offense going four-for-four at the plate with two doubles, two singles, and four RBIs. Aleskya Batoon went three-for-four with two doubles, one homerun, and two RBIs. Hope Shimatsu and Maddie Hull both went two-for-four, each contributing an RBI.

 In game two, Amanda Curry earned the win for the Cardinals in a close 11-10 victory. Curry entered the game in the fourth inning, only giving up one earned run and striking out three. Kasey Davis continued her perfect day at the plate going four-for-four in game two as well. Davis had three singles, one homerun, and two RBIs. Grace Shimatsu went two-for-three with three singles and three RBIs. Audrey walker went two-for-three with one stolen base and one RBI.

On Sunday, May 2, the Cardinals faced the Knights again in a double header at Wenatchee. The Cardinals bats were hot, as the team tallied a total of 35 runs combined in the two games. NIC won their first game on Sunday 15-3. Pitcher, Jadyn Raley-Jones picked up the win for Cardinals in five innings. Kasey Davis, once again, led the Cardinal offense. Davis went three-for-three, with one walk, two singles, one homerun, four RBIs. Maddie Hull also had a successful game at the plate, going three-for-four with two doubles and two RBIs. Taryn Vanderwiel went two-for-three with one double, one homerun, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In game four, the Cardinal offense earned a 20-4 win to sweep the series against Wenatchee. Amanda Curry led the Cardinals to the fifth inning win in the circle, keeping the Knights’ offense to four runs. Taryn Vanderwiel continued her hitting streak, going three-for-five at the plate with one homerun, two singles, and five RBIs. Addison Ribordy also contributed to the Cardinals’ explosive offense, going two-for-three at the plate with two RBIs. Maddie Hull went three-for-five with one double, two singles, and two RBIs. Catcher, Sophie Nash, went two-for-three at the plate with two singles, one walk, one stolen base, and an RBI.

 NIC is back on the road Tuesday, May 4, to play a doubleheader against Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington.
