SOFTBALL: Cards tally two wins against CBC

On Thursday, May 6 the NIC Softball won their first game against Columbia Basin College. The Cardinals earned the 11-3 victory in five innings, with Jadyn Raley-Jones in the circle. Raley-Jones gave up two earned runs and had two strikeouts. On offensive, Taya Escalante went four-for-four with two singles, one triple, one homerun, and three RBIs. Audrey Walker went three-for-three at the plate with one single, two homeruns and three RBIs. Hope Shimatsu went two-for-three with one single, and one triple.

In game two, the Cardinal’s offense busted open in the sixth inning to pull away from an 11-11 tied game. NIC scored 11 runs in the top of the sixth, earning themselves a 22-13 victory against CBC. Jadyn Raley-Jones came in to pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning, earning the win in the circle. On offense, Taya Escalante continued her powerful day at the plate three-for-four with two walks, two doubles, one homerun, and six RBIs. Maddie Hull went two-for-three with one sac fly, one walk, one homerun, and three RBIs. Sophie Nash went two-for-three with one walk, one hit by pitch, and two singles. Hope Shimastu went three-for-four with three singles one walk, and three RBIs.
