NIC's Jacob Swift places high in Reno Tournament

The NIC wrestling team competed in the Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday, Dec. 15th as one of six NJCAA programs to wrestle in the tournament. The University of Wyoming, a Division 1 school, won the tournament with Campbell University finishing second. The number one NAIA program, Grand View University, finished third as a team.

NIC Cardinal, Jacob Swift, the number one ranked NJCAA wrestler at 157 was the highest placing NJCAA wrestler at the event taking 4th. In the quarterfinals, Swift defeated Joel Romero from Clackamas Community College, 8-3, who was last year’s NJCAA national runner-up at 157.

The Cards wrestle this Thursday, Dec. 19 at home against Big Bend Community College at 5 p.m. before hosting the Tri-State Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday.
