SOFTBALL: NIC clinches back to back NWAC East Region Title


The softball team traveled to Yakima, WA to finish up east region play today with a double-header against the Yaks of Yakima Valley College. In game one, Madi Mott earned her 22ndwin of the season with 11 strike outs in 5 innings. The Cardinals won the game 9-0. Sarah Williams went 2-3 with a single and a solo home run. Bailey Cavanagh went 2-3 with a double, a triple and two RBI’s. Devinne Amesquita had a 3 run home run.

In game two, the Cardinals finished strong with a 17-1 victory. Grace Ferres earned the win in the circle with 9 strike outs. Ashlyn Winn went 4-6 with one single, two doubles, a 2 run home run and 5 RBI’s. Jori Kerr had 2 triples on the game. Cavanagh went 3-5 with 2 singles, a double and 3 RBI’s. Bri Hecker went 4-4 with 3 singles, one double, and a sac fly.

The Cardinals will start their run to repeat as NWAC Champions at Dwight Merkel Athletic Complex next Friday, May 17th. The bracket will be announced early next week.
