SOFTBALL: Cardinals sweep Chukars on Sophomore Day


The Cardinals won two games on Saturday, May 4th against the Treasure Valley CC Chukars. Saturday was a memorable day for the Cardinals as they honored their 8 sophomores for their time and contribution to NIC over the past two years. In game one, the Cardinals defeated the Chukars 9-1 in 5 innings with Madi Mott earning her 20th win on the season. The Cardinal bats came up big with 5 homeruns that scored 6 of the 9 runs for NIC. Madi Mott, Taylor Anderson, Ashlyn Winn, and Devinne Amesquita hit solo homeruns to score and Emma Profili hit a 2 run homerun in the 5th. Besides her solo homerun, Devinne Amesquita went 3-3 in the game with 2 additional singles and having 2 RBI’s. Taylor Anderson also had a great game for the Cardinals, going 3-3 with her homerun, a double and a single.

In game two, the Cardinals won with a final score of 8-0 in 5 innings. Madi Mott and Grace Ferres both contributing in the circle for the shutout. Ashlyn went 2-2 with a single, double, and a walk. Bailey Cavanagh went 3-3 with two singles, a double and 3 RBI’s. Sarah Williams had a 3 run homerun in the 2nd inning and had 3 RBI’s. Emma Profili went 2-2 with two singles and had one RBI.
