02/28/2019

Top-ranked North Idaho College (27-2, 16-0), having already claimed the East Region title of the Northwest Athletic Conference, knocked off Columbia Basin 125-76 Wednesday night in Pasco, Washington, completing an undefeated regular season (16-0).

The Hawks (5-22, 2-13) hung around for the first 10 minutes hitting several 3-pointers but the Cardinal’s ultimately found their rhythm. Freshman Nate Pryor took command with 16 first-half points on 7 of 10 shooting, Sophomore Alphonso Anderson powered his way inside for 13 points (4-6 from the field) and Freshman Emmitt Taylor came off the bench to hit 3 3-pointers (11pts) as NIC led 60-39 at the break.

The offense turned it up in the second half, hitting 67% from the field with Pryor adding 12 points to finish with a game-high 28.  Taylor hit 2 more 3’s for his 19 points as 6 players hit double-figures. Three Cards finished with 15 points apiece, Anderson, sophomore RayQuan Evans, and sophomore Jarod Greene. Greene hit 7 of 10 field goal attempts to finish the regular season shooting 70%, the second-consecutive year that he led the Conference in shooting percentage. Sophomore Iaian McLaughlin rounded out double-digit scorers with 12 points in a reserve role as the Cardinal bench contributed 50 of the team’s 125-point total. Freshman Phillip Malatare contributed a game-high 10 assists.
