WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Defensive tenacity beats Bellevue

The North Idaho College women’s basketball team’s defensive tenacity proved to be too much for Bellevue College as the Lady Cardinals defeated the Lady Bulldogs 64-49 on Tuesday, December 18, to finish Holiday Inn Express NWAC Crossover tournament play.  NIC secured 16 steals for the game with sophomore Zosha Krupa and freshman Anna Schrade both with five.  Sophomore Heidi Sellman recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman Alex Carlton added 14 points while freshman Halle Eborall’s stat line read 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Anna Schrade also pulled down 8 rebounds.

The victory came one day after Bellevue College upset #2 ranked Umpqua Community College and less than two days after NIC fell to Umpqua in overtime.  The Lady Cardinals are now 7-2 and return to action on Thursday, December 27, against Centralia College at 1:00 PM at the Red Devil Holiday Classic in Longview, WA.
