Madi Mott Signs with Saint Leo University

On Wednesday afternoon, surrounded by her team, Madi Mott signed with Saint Leo University, an NCAA division II program in Saint Leo Florida, to continue her college softball career. Mott, who is currently a sophomore pitcher at North Idaho College, was a huge part of the Cardinal’s historic 2018 season as they clenched their first NWAC Championship title with a 50-3 record. In addition to her team’s success last season, she also gained many personal accolades including being named 2018 NWAC Player of the Year, 2018 NWAC Tournament MVP, 2018 NFCA First-Team All American, two-time 2018 Under Armour Player of the Week, 2018 East Region Pitcher of the Year and 2018 North Idaho College Female Athlete of the year. Mott did much more than help the team defensively. Hitting third in the lineup, she held a .432 batting average, was named First-Team DP, and had 15 homeruns on the season. For Mott, leaving NIC next year is bittersweet. “Don Don is the best coach I’ve ever had the privilege to play for and she has made NIC my home. She has provided me the skills and knowledge to take the next step in my career at St. Leo. This offers me an opportunity to take all the knowledge I’ve gained from Don Don, as well as NIC, and raise the bar even higher to accomplish a greater challenge.” She believes that St. Leo is the best fit for her because of their competitive biology department and their outstanding softball program. “Madi has worked extremely hard to take her game to the next level. I am so happy that she has found a home to finish her career under a great coach and excellent program. I know she will bring a championship mindset to the St. Leo program,” said head coach, Don Don Williams. A 2018 NFCA Academic scholar, Mott also excels in the classroom with the long-term goal of graduating with a B.S. degree in Biology. She then plans on continuing onto medical school and studying to become a Physician’s Assistant.
