MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals fly past Hawks

02/08/2018

Third-ranked North Idaho College rolled past Columbia Basin College Wednesday night 95-55 in Pasco, Washington, their 5th consecutive NWAC victory. Defensively, the Cardinals (18-5, 8-2) held the Hawks (3-20, 1-10) to 30% shooting from the field, 19% from beyond the arc. Offensively, 5 players scored in double-figures led by the 20 points of freshman RayQuan Evans. Sophomore starters Tyley Brimhall and Jalen Burkett added 11 and 10 points respectively. NIC’s bench played a major role with freshman Keegan Crosby tossing in a career-high 15 points while sophomore Aushanti Potts-Woods was instant offense going 3-of-4 from beyond the arc for his 14 points.

“Our goal is to hold teams under 60 points,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “I was also pleased with the play of guys coming off the bench. It was a nice team victory.”

The Cardinals, tied with Walla Walla in the Eastern Division of the NWAC with that 8-2 mark, return home this Saturday afternoon to host Treasure Valley. The women start the day off at 2pm with the men to follow at 4. If you can’t make the game, tune in to our You Tube channel at nicathletics.com.
