MEN’S BASKETBALL: Evans keys Cardinal’s victory

02/03/2018

RayQuan Evans scored 23 of his game-high 30 points in the second half, leading North Idaho College to a 100-81 victory over Yakima Valley CC Saturday night at Rolly Williams Court. The sophomore also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. The win avenged a January 6th 83-77 loss at Yakima. Three other Cardinals scored in double figures. Sophomores Jalen Burkett and Tyler Brimhall scored 20 and 18 points respectively while freshman Jarod Greene added 14. Burkett and Greene each added 6 rebounds. NIC (17-5,7-2), 1st in rebound margin at 12rpg, continued that trend outrebounding the Yaks (15-8,6-4) 42-28.

“RayQuan was outstanding tonight,” said Head Coach Corey Symons, “He got everyone going in the first half and took over in the second.”

The Cardinals, now tied for first place in the NWAC East with Walla Walla, travel to the Tri-Cities on Wednesday night to face Columbia Basin.
