MEN'S BASKETBALL: Defense keys end of year victory


North Idaho College dominated from start to finish in a 83-47 victory over Medicine Hat College in the final game of the Coeur d’Alene INN-Vitational Tournament. The Cardinals held the Rattlers, who hail from Medicine Hat, Alberta, to just 17 first-half points on 13% shooting from the field while building a 23-point lead. For the game, Medicine Hat shot just 23%. Aaron Cameron, the Rattlers leader scorer at 23 points per game, was held to just a free throw while going 0-10 from the field.

For the Cards, Freshman Ian McLaughlin, poured in a career-high 20 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Sophomore Tyler Brimhall and freshman Jarod Greene each added 12 points as the Cardinals won their 7th straight to improve to 10-3.

The Cardinals out-rebounded the Rattlers 60-37.

“Our Defense was awesome tonight,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “I like our momentum heading into conference play.”
