MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals win 5th straight

North Idaho College came out blazing in a 106-67 victory over Fairchild AFB Thursday night at the Coeur d’Alene INN-Vitational at Rolly Williams Court. The Cards shot a blistering 60% from both the field and from beyond the arc as four players tallied double figure scoring. Sophomore Austanti Potts-Wood, who finished with 17 points, hit 5 3-pointers in the first half as the Cards roared out to a 63-36 halftime lead, hitting 8 of 10 from beyond the arc and 62% overall from the field “I was very happy with the guys effort,” said Head Coach Corey Symons. “Especially in the fact that we haven’t played well in the past after coming off an extended break.”

Freshman Jarod Greene had a huge night, scoring a game-high 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting, while also grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds. Both career highs. Freshman RayQuan Evans had a hot hand as well, going 6 of 7 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line. Connor Chapman had a fine game coming off the bench to score 12 points while grabbing 7 boards. In all, the Cardinals outrebounded the Falcons 58-25.

The Cardinals continue tournament action Friday night at 6pm against Everett. The Trojans beat the visiting Cardinals 90-86 December 3.
