MEN’S BASKETBALL: NIC loses first game of the season


The Cardinals battled back from a 13-point, second-half deficit but came up just short in a 90-86 loss to Everett on the Trojans home court. Freshman Ian McLaughlin has been a forced off the bench, scoring a game-high 22 points on 9 of 12 shooting, to go along with a team-high 8 rebounds. Freshman RayQuan Evans continued his consistent play with 22 points and 9 assists while sophomore Aushanti Potts-Woods and freshman Jarod Greene each chipped in 10 points.

“I was happy with the comeback effort in the second half, especially playing though foul issues,” lamented Head Coach Corey Symons. “We’re a young team and that issue (fouls) is something we’ll learn from.”

The Cardinals, now 3-1, will get back to business this Thursday night in San Jose, California in the San Jose City Classic when they face Monterey Peninsula College in the opener at 4pm. All three games can be seen live on the webcast at
