MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals pass first road test


Sophomore Tyler Brimhall hit four free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal a 86-81 NIC victory over Edmonds Community College Saturday night in Everett, Washington. Brimhall finished 7 of 9 from the charity strip for his 16 points. RayQuan Evans continued his strong play, leading four Cards in double-figures with a game-high 23 points. The sophomore out of Billings, Montana, completed the double-double with 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Another bright spot for NIC was Ian McLaughlin, the freshman came off the bench to score 19 points on 8 of 12 shooting in addition to grabbing 6 rebounds. Sophomore Jalen Burkett had a big inside game for the Cardinals with 10 points and 7 rebounds. 

“I thought our intensity was outstanding,” said Head Coach Corey Symons after seeing his young team win their first road contest of the year. “We have a few things to tighten up before tonight matchup against Everett.”

The Everett Trojans knocked off  Highline College 101-74 in the opening game. Former Lakeside (Spokane) High School star Conner Moffet led Everett with 42 points.

The No. 19 nationally ranked NIC Cardinals move to 3-0 with the win. Watch tonight’s action live at Tip-off is at 6:00pm.
