MEN’S BASKETBALL: Cardinals win home opener


In a renewal of old NJCAA rivals, the NIC Men's Basketball team opened the season with a hard fought 87-80 victory over Northwest College. The Trappers, from Powell,Wyoming came in at 5-1 and the Cardinals, in their first game of the season, took turns with extended runs during the contest. The Cardinals jumped out to a 20-8 lead, but found themselves down at 38-34. The Cards found themselves down 10 in the second half before freshman guard Lester Milan was inserted in the lineup and went on a personal 8-0 run to get the Cards back in the contest. Freshman guard RayQuan Evans scored 31 points to lead the Cardinals and post Jared Green was 5-5 from the field to score 10 points in his Cardinal debut.
