SOFTBALL: NIC regains 2nd place in East Region

After falling to fourth place last week in the East, the Lady Cards are on a 7 game winning streak which puts them back in second place with a 14-5 overall conference standing.

On Tuesday last week, the Lady Cards hosted the Vikings of Big Bend Community College. In game one of the series the Cards battled throughout the game and earned the win in the bottom of the 7th with a score of 7-6. In game two the Cardinals jumped ahead early and posted a score of 11-3 ending the game in the 5th inning due to an 8-run rule.

The Cardinals were back in action Friday hosting the Timberwolves of Blue Mountain College. In game one of the series the Lady Cards put up 6 runs in the first inning. The scoring didn’t end there, the Cardinals posted a final score of 16-2 ending the game in the 5th inning due to an 8-run rule. In game two, the Cardinals scored 4 runs in the 4th inning to put them out in front for good earning the sweep with a score of 9-5.  

Saturday the Cardinals hosted the Chuckers of Treasure Valley Community College earning the sweep to complete the weekend. Final score in game one 8-0. Final score of game two 11-5.  

The Cardinals will be back in action Wednesday April 19, 2017 at Memorial Field.
