SOFTBALL: Cardinals split with TVCC
Softball traveled to Ontario, Oregon to take on the Chukars of Treasure Valley Community College. In game one of the series, Kayla Moore earned a win from the circle. The Cardinals were down 3-0 going into the 6th inning. In the top of 6th, Ana Raynor started off with a lead-off single. Kayla Curtan got hit by the pitch for a free base. Kalyna Korok single to load the bases. Megan Carver hit a gap double to score all three runs. Kennedy Anderson and McKensie Schaller singled to score Carver. Natalie Schwab then hit her first collegiate 3 run homerun to finish the inning 7-3. The Cardinals came back and scored 3 more runs in the top of the 7th to earn the victory 10-6.
In game two of the series, the Cardinals and Chukars went back and forth with the lead. In the top of the 7th, Jamie Yurick hit a 2 run homerun to tie the game 7-7. In extra innings, the Cardinals failed to push a run across in the top of the 8th and the Chukars scored on a base hit to earn the win.
On day two, the Cardinals faced off against the Timberwolves of Blue Mountain Community College. In the 5th inning Kayla Curtan singled to lead off the inning. Nikki Miller singles and Megan Carver hit a 3 run homerun to tie up the game 5-5. The game was halted to due to rain and field conditions in the bottom of the 6th with one out and a runner at first base. The game is tied at 8-8. The game will be resumed when BMCC comes to play the Cardinals at home. Game 2 of the series will also be played.
