MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals win share of East Region title
Top ranked North Idaho College avenged an earlier 98-95 loss to 3rd-ranked Walla Walla, beating the Warriors 88-75 to claim at least a share of the NWAC East Region title. The Cards can claim the title outright with a victory on Wednesday at Wenatchee Valley.
Three players recorded double-doubles for the Cardinals. Freshman forward Marcus Golder tallied 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, both game highs. Sophomore post Zaequan Satterthwaite was nearly perfect in his final regular season home game, scoring 24 points on 9 of 10 shooting from the field and 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Another sophomore playing his final game at Rolly Williams Court, guard Sam Dowd, continued his outstanding play, tossing in 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting while the NWAC’s top assist leader dished out 10.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Cardinal defense was on its game again, holding the NWAC’s 3rd-leading scoring team to 39% shooting from the field, 24% from beyond the arc, 16 points under their season average of 91.
The Cardinals close out the regular season Wednesday night against the Knights of Wenatchee Valley CC. Game time 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women’s game which tips off at 6pm.
