02/22/2017

The #1 ranked Cardinal Men’s Basketball team came out defensive minded from the start and rolled to an 83-55 victory over Blue Mountain CC Wednesday night at Rolly Williams Court. The Cards led 33-17 at the half after holding the Timberwolves to 25% shooting from the field. The Cards used their bench extensively in the second half while resting their starters, but still limited Blue Mountain to 33% shooting for the game. Tyrus Hosley came off the bench to pour in 15 points, tying for game-high honors with fellow freshman Niko Bevens. Bevens, the NWAC’s top 3-point shooter at 51%, was 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. In all, the Cardinal bench outscored Blue Mountain 42-17. Hosley also added a game high 6 assists.

The Cardinals improve to 12-2, and lead the East Region by a single game over  Walla Walla CC (11-3), setting up a showdown for first place at NIC this Saturday afternoon. The 3rd ranked Warriors knocked off Columbia Basin College 93-55 Wednesday night on their home court.  Game time is 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Women’s game which tips off at 2:00pm.
