MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards defeat Columbia Basin to Clinch Playoff Berth
The #3 ranked Cardinals knocked off Columbia Basin 90-74 at Christianson Gymnasium in a game originally schedule for February 8th. The Cardinals only led 45-43 at the half after CBC shot a blistering 10-14 from 3 point range. The Cardinal defense tightened in the second half and they held the Hawks to 31 points in the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
The balanced Cardinals attack was led by Ziggy Satterthwaite with 26 points, while Markus Golder contributed 17 points and a team high 8 boards. Sam Dowd, the NWAC Player of the Week, had another impressive outing with 18 points, 9 assists, 4 steals and only 2 turnovers in 36 minutes. Niko Bevens, the NWAC leader in 3 point field goal percentage, tallied 14 points.
With their 8th straight win the Cardinals improve to 11-2 in conference and 23-3 overall, to earn an NWAC playoff berth. The Cardinals lead Walla Walla CC (10-3, 19-6 overall) by one game and face the Warriors in the home season finale on February 25th at 4:00pm.
