This year marks the beginning of Pat Whitcomb’s 15th season as NIC wrestling head coach. He enters the year with three national titles under his belt and an NIC career record of 199-36-2. Whitcomb has been honored as the National Coach of the Year twice and has received the Region 18 Coach of the Year Award seven times. In 2001, Whitcomb was honored as Coach of the Year at the prestigious Idaho Sports Banquet and in 2006 he was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Wrestling Man of the Year by the NJCAA wrestling coaches. Whitcomb was instrumental in bringing the 2011 NJCAA national wrestling championships to Spokane, Wash., where the Cardinals captured an exciting second-place finish.
As an athlete, Whitcomb captured back-to-back national titles for NIC in 1986 and 1987 and was named NJCAA Outstanding Wrestler at the 1987 national tournament. After NIC, Whitcomb wrestled at Oklahoma University before transferring to the University of Western Montana, where he finished second at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics national tournament. Before coming to NIC, Whitcomb was head coach at Kellogg and Lake City high schools.
Whitcomb is originally from Grand Rapids, Mich. He is the proud father of 17-year-old Philip, 16-year-old Kassie, 12-year-old Kattie, and 9-year-old Matthew.

Christopher Harris, a former NIC wrestler, is entering his fourth year on the NIC coaching staff. Harris grew up in Las Vegas where he was a four-time state finalist for Cimarron High School. He captured All-American honors during his prep career after placing fourth in the freestyle national tournament and fifth at the Greco national tournament. His overall prep record was an impressive 171-15.
Prior to coming to NIC, Harris wrestled for Lassen Community College where he finished third at the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament and compiled a 33-5 record.
Harris and his wife Nidia Miranda have three daughters, 6-year-old Selena, 4-year-old Miriam, and 3-year-old Cheleste.

Keri Stanley returns to North Idaho College where he wrestled for head coach Pat Whitcomb from 2001 to 2003. During his wrestling career at NIC, Stanley was a national runner-up in 2002 and a national champion in 2003, helping to lead his team to a national championship.
After NIC, Stanley went to wrestle for the University of Minnesota for a year before completing a bachelor’s degree in university studies from Dickinson State University in North Dakota. Before coming to NIC, Stanley served as an enrollment counselor and assistant wrestling coach at Dickinson State University. He was a standout wrestler at Columbia Falls High School in Montana where he was a four-time state finalist. Stanley lives in the area with his wife Kelsey, who was a track athlete at Dickinson State University.
